Volunteers in Vietnam – Day 2

A short-term mission team from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect, IL is sending us updates from the field. They are helping to build houses for impoverished Vietnamese families, while experiencing Lutheran Hour Ministries outreach first-hand. Please pray for the volunteer team and for our staff.

What a great day! We traveled by boat to church in the morning and worshiped with fellow Christians here in the Mekong Delta. We sang several familiar songs, simultaneously in Vietnamese and in English. The fellowship we had with our Christian brothers and sisters here reminded us of the expansiveness of God’s Kingdom and that cultural differences do not separate the members of the body of Christ, but we are all one in HIm.

Following church, the congregation treated us to a wonderful Vietnamese meal of “pan cakes” filled with a delicious shrimp filling. While waiting for the water in the river to rise with the tide again so the boat could come back to get us, we shared in conversation with our new Vietnamese friends and learned much about daily life in Vietnam.

After a short stop along the river at a fruit farm to see some local fruits and plants, we returned to our hotel exhausted, but excited. We are looking forward to our day of building tomorrow.

In Him!
The Vietnam Team
