Reverend S. Suviseshamuthu (Dr. Suvi), a respected former director and long-time Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) volunteer, died today at the age of 77. He passed away from this earthly life into the glory of heavenly life with the Lord following several days of serious illness.
Dr. Suvi began working with LHM—India (known locally as Christian Media Center) in 1984, prior to which he was the director at Christian Arts & Communication Services from 1969. During that time Dr. Suvi was recognized for introducing Indian traditional dance as way to share the Gospel. As a result LHM—India is known as the pioneers in Folk Arts Evangelism in India.
After retiring in 2001, Dr. Suvi continued as a consultant for three years before serving on the Board of Trustees for LHM—India, a position he held until his death.
A service will be held at the Lutheran Hour Ministries ministry center auditorium in India on January 18, 2011, the day that would have been Dr. Suvi’s 78th birthday.
“While he was alive he used to tell us that death is an occasion to celebrate. Therefore the family members wanted to celebrate that day to thank God for his good life and service to the Lord and the family,” said current LHM—India Director, Rev. C. David.
The staff at Lutheran Hour Ministries request prayer for Dr. Suvi’s widow, Margaret, and the Suviseshamuthu family during this difficult time.
