This week, Lutheran Hour Ministries is happy to officially welcome Dr. Douglas Rutt as the new Division Director of International Ministries. Douglas brings a wealth of international experience and is no stranger to the organization.
In 1993, he worked with LCMS World Mission and the Lutheran Church of Guatemala to establish LHM—Guatemala, and it was he who hired the current director of that ministry center, Rebeca de Franco. Douglas spent eight years in Latin America between 1983-1994, founding churches and training pastors to spread the word of God in places where opportunities for worship were limited.
Most recently, Douglas had been teaching at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., and while he enjoyed his work as a professor, he wished to return to a role in international ministry. When he heard about the opening, Douglas felt drawn to the position.
“I saw an opportunity to be involved in evangelism around the world that helps facilitate local Christians,” Douglas said. “Since I received the call, lots of people from all over the church have said it’s a perfect fit for me.”
Douglas sees a lot of possibilities. “The spirit of God is moving. It is an opportune time to be involved with a ministry like this – out on the cutting edge, the front line of evangelistic ministry.”
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Douglas. Click here to visit his blog.
