Rising with the Sun to Share the Son

Although most people don’t enjoy waking up at 3:30 a.m. to go to work, LHM—Paraguay Director Victor Verruck describes it as a great joy. Every Monday morning, Verruck rises early in order to travel to the suburb of Chaco, where he meets with participants of Project JOEL, an outreach program designed in Panama to provide Christian guidance to youth and help them make good decisions in their lives. Verruck meets with students at 7 a.m. and again at 5 p.m., before and after their school day. Participants have fellowship together and discuss things issues and problems in their lives. One important topic Verruck addresses with the students is the importance of abstinence before marriage and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases.

Parents and children alike are glad to have someone trustworthy who will discuss these important issues with them. “We are very happy that LHM comes to talk to our children because we don’t know how to do it,” said the father of three Project JOEL participants. LHM—Paraguay also counsels parents on how to communicate Christian values to their children.
