Former LHM Director and Family Held Hostage and Assaulted

Dr. Jaime Paredes

We received an e-mail from Alexander Perez, the LHM director in Venezuela, saying that last week his predecessor, Dr. Jaime Paredes and his family were held captive in their home by a heavily armed gang. The ordeal lasted two hours as the family was threatened and assaulted by the men who demanded money, jewelry, and other belongings.

We thank God that the robbers did not cause any serious physical harm to Dr. Paredes or his family but they left the home with some of their valuables, including the family car. Alexander is asking for our prayers for Dr. Paredes and his family, so that they can overcome the stress and anxiety caused by this incident.

Dr. Jaime Paredes retired in 2008 after serving as our director in Venezuela for over 20 years.
