Rebuilding in the Aftermath of the Earthquake

The Heriberto-Contreras family was affected firsthand by the earthquake that rattled Chile in February.  Their roof, which was made of clay tiles, completely collapsed into the house.  This home was one of several that LHM—Chile helped to repair.

Mr. and Mrs. Heriberto-Conteras live with their six children and one grandchild. Because they have young children and winter is approaching in South America, rebuilding the roof was a primary concern of the ministry.

“We never expected that we would receive this selfless help from LHM,” said Mr. Heriberto.  “It was a pleasant surprise and we are grateful to everyone who made it possible.”

Area Counselor for Latin America, Rev. Nilo Figur, said, “On my recent visit to Chile, I had the opportunity to visit some of these houses and families. It was touching for all of us to see how much a little help from our part was appreciated by those families.

“More than the material help, they expressed their thankfulness for what is moving us to help – the love of Christ. “
